Delusion and Damnation

For This Cause God Shall Send Them Strong Delusion (2Thessalonians 2:11)

Such a strange topic, considering the theme, Great Salvation. Unfortunately, many individuals will not be experiencing the Great Salvation because of their attitude towards the Truth.

Deceive

Among the lost will be those who practice deception. In this letter, Paul refers to the one who whose coming is after the working of Satan with power, signs and lying wonders- 2Thessalonians 2:7-10. This is clarified by John in his letter. He writes, you have heard that Anti-Christ shall come, even now are there many Anti-Christs, whereby we know it is the last time-1John 2:18. John further states that Anti-Christs are liars who do not believe that Jesus is Christ-1John 2:22.

Receive

With regards to those that perish, Paul supplies the reason, because they receive not the love of the truth that they might be saved-2Thessalonians 2:10. Jesus himself taught that the truth shall set us free-John 8:32. So many people have no concern for truth, but are more interested in fables-2Timothy 4:4, Titus 1:14. Yet Peter declares, you have purified your souls in obeying the truth-1Peter 1:22, not fables, not error.

Believe

Two plagues will come upon those who will not believe the truth. One, God shall send them strong delusion that they should believe a lie-2Thessalonians 2:11. Two, they all might be damned who believe not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness-2Thessalonians 2:12. God has a way of giving people what they want. He hardened Pharaoh’s heart-Exodus 7:13, 8:15, but he opened Lydia’s heart-Acts 16:14. We may walk in the ways of our heart, but know this, for all these thing God will bring us into Judgment- Ecclesiastes 11:9.
