The Harvest is Passed, The Summer is Ended

The Harvest Is Passed, The Summer Is Ended, And We Are Not Saved (Jeremiah 8:20)

Are you saved? If today was your last day on earth, would you find yourself in Abraham’s Bosom or a place of torment? - Luke 16:22-24. In the time of the Prophet Jeremiah, the Jews were facing death- Jeremiah 8:12.

Sin

They had committed abominable acts but were not at all ashamed neither could they blush- Jeremiah 8:12. Repeatedly the bible reminds us that sin has inescapable consequences- Numbers 32:23, Romans 6:23, Galatians 6:7. Although God rejects idolatry, many continue to provoke Him in the practice- Exodus 20:4, Jeremiah 8:19, Colossians 3:5.

Situation

Having committed abominable acts, God promised that the Jews would fall in the time of their visitation - Jeremiah 8:12. They would be consumed, no grapes on the vine, no figs on the tree and their blessings would be revoked- Jeremiah 8:13. In addition to this, God gave them water of gall to drink, because of sin- Jeremiah 8:14. They looked for peace but no good came, for health but got trouble- Jeremiah 8:15.

Salvation

As it was then, so it is now, the same God whom we provoke to anger is the same God who will save. Is not the Lord in Zion? Jeremiah 8:19. Later Jeremiah asked two more piercing questions, is there no balm in Gilead, Is there no physician there? Why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered? Jeremiah 8:22.

Season

The harvest is passed, the summer is ended, and we are not saved- Jerimiah 8:20. Time is filled with swift transition, build your hope on things eternal. Hold to God’s unchanging hand. Behold now is the accepted time, behold now is the day of salvation. Are you saved? 2Corinthians 6:2.
